A Boutique Bush Lodge in the City

Introducing two new staff members

Introducing two new staff members

We’re delighted to let you know about two new recruits for Aloe Lane, both of whom came on board earlier this year. And more importantly, both involved in making our food and beverage service even more tempting!

Takudzwa Nhira
When our hostess Babiki departed in December to get married, we thought it might be difficult to replace such a popular favourite with our guests. Then along came this bright young man with a tongue twister of a name – who we simply call Teekay.

Always smiling and ready to chat, he can knock up a speciality coffee or an amazing cocktail with ease. He is passionate about his work and won Barista of the Year at his past workplace. He enjoys interacting with guests and welcomes everyone with a cheerful smile – why not come and see for yourself?

Vukani Gwala
Vukani is a bit shy, so we’re showing you his amazing Lamb Shank instead – already a firm favourite! Vukani joined our team as 2nd chef in January, working with our Head Chef Patrick and covering the the weekend schedule. Vukani has many years of experience catering to the needs of boutique lodge guests, and he is already a firm favourite.

Working together, Patrick and Vukani ensure that our warm hospitality and home style cooking is available throughout the week for all of our guests. Bringing Vukani on board has also allowed Patrick to take some valuable time off from a busy weekly schedule!

IMG_3711About a year ago, we featured the new Mall of Africa in one of our news stories, which had opened just 15 minutes away from the Lodge. This fabulous shopping centre has now become a firm favourite with our guests and is becoming more established, with more new stores opening all the time.

The Mall of Africa has over 300 shops across five areas – Forest Walk, Desert Court, Great Lakes, Crystal Court and Oleum Court. Between them, these different parts of the centre host many international brands including well-known names such as Paul Smith, Adidas, Nine West, Swarovski, Geri Webber, Timberland, Bobbi Brown, Lacoste, Armani, H&M, River Island, Pandora, Hugo Boss, Guess, Jo Malone, Hackett of London, Hamleys and Versace. What more could you ask for?!

Kyalami_Corner_LogoEven closer to home, we now also have our new regional shopping centre, Kyalami Corner – which is just 2km away and opened in April. This features more local brands including Woolworths Food, Checkers, Clicks and MICA, plus a 3,500m² Virgin Active gym!

But if you prefer to eat a few calories rather than burn them off, then Kyalami Corner also offers a huge choice fabulous restaurants including Jackson’s Real Food Market, The Baron, BBQ Workshop, Piza e Vino, Ginger Boy, Bunny Chow, Salsa Mexican Grill, Mugg & Bean and Hello Tomato.

It certainly looks like it’s going to be a real attraction for locals and visitor alike – where people want to shop, eat and enjoy the incredible variety, luxury and atmosphere that the centre offers.
